The rapid evolution of information technology has reshaped operations across industries, including the maritime sector. Today, organizations must meet higher demands for automation, regulatory compliance, and efficient human resource management. At the same time, the need for integrated digital systems leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence and web-based infrastructure is growing rapidly.
Despite its regulatory complexity and global reach, the maritime industry lags in digital transformation—especially in crew management and seafarer support during their professional lifecycle. Traditional tools like spreadsheets and fragmented legacy systems are no longer sufficient to address modern operational, legal, and human-centric demands.
In this context, this thesis introduces SeaNet, an advanced web-based platform designed for maritime crew and vessel management, addressing both company and seafarer needs. The system was developed using modern software engineering tools and supports key features such as compliance tracking, automated notifications, job matching, training management, and an embedded maritime AI assistant. Its effectiveness was validated through real-world testing, showcasing SeaNet’s potential to drive digital transformation within the maritime industry.
