This master's thesis examines and captures one of the most popular issues of the current decade, artificial
intelligence technology and deepfake technology. It provides the reader with a comprehensive overview
of what is defined as artificial Intelligence and deepfake, the fields in which these technologies are
applied, and how society interacts with them. The research focuses on their social, legal, and regulatory
impact and attempts to holistically identify the gaps that exist and their effects on society and regulatory
policy. Through a systematic study of the literature, specifically scientific articles, relevant European
Union case law, and the guidelines of international organizations, the complexity and multi-level impact
of artificial intelligence and deepfake technology on the daily lives of citizens is highlighted, as well as
the way in which citizens interact with the information generated by these technologies. For this reason,
the ethics of artificial intelligence were also examined in detail, the social and psychological burdens on
individuals caused by Deepfake technology, and the core issue of the influence of artificial intelligence on
critical thinking. Finally, based on thorough scientific research, this paper raises the issue of ownership of
content produced through Artificial Intelligence technologies and proposes a European Regulatory
Framework for acquiring the "identity" of works produced through this technology.
