This thesis focuses on the development of a web-based application designed for primary education, aiming to support teachers in the instruction of History. The application was created to provide customized educational material, organized by grade level and content type, in alignment with the official curriculum of school textbooks. Through this platform, users are able to search for and utilize various types of learning resources, such as presentations, interactive digital games, teaching scenarios, videos, e-books, worksheets, and a wide range of educational exercises. It is noteworthy that the application also allows parents of primary school students to access appropriate educational material, enabling additional practice in History beyond school hours.
The system supports multiple user roles (administrators, teachers, parents/students, and unregistered visitors) and offers interactive features such as rating and commenting on educational material. Registered users can also upload new educational content, which is subject to an approval process by administrators to ensure its suitability, quality, and reliability. Each registered user may, at any time, delete their own comments, modify previously submitted ratings, or permanently remove their account if they so wish.
Furthermore, the system includes a central administrator role, who has the authority to create, review, and delete users and educational materials, as well as to approve other administrators and content submissions prior to publication.
The presented study includes the theoretical framework of the project through an extensive literature review, the usefulness of the application through the analysis of the problem it addresses, and a comparative evaluation with similar systems in terms of their features and functionality. It also covers the requirements analysis and detailed system design, along with the implementation and evaluation of the developed application. Finally, the expected benefits for the educational community are discussed, and suggestions for future improvements and extensions of the system are presented.
