This postgraduate thesis focuses on the development of a digital skills workshop that aims to raise awareness among primary school students (aged 9-12) about the protection of the Mediterranean, with an emphasis on tackling pollution. The workshop utilizes modern pedagogical methods, such as Harvard Thinking Routines, and digital tools, such as Canva, Kahoot and Google Slides, to promote critical thinking, collaboration and environmental awareness skills. Through interactive activities, such as the creation of digital posters, interactive quizzes and role-playing games, students explore the biodiversity of the Mediterranean, the causes of pollution and the possibilities for sustainable solutions.
The evaluation of the workshop carried out highlighted its strengths, such as its clear structure and accessibility, but also areas for improvement, such as multilingual support. The paper suggests strategies to enhance the effectiveness of the workshop, such as the use of augmented reality and collaboration with environmental organizations, while highlighting the importance of education to cultivate responsible citizens with environmental awareness. The results indicate that such programs can contribute to the formation of a culture of environmental responsibility in new generations.
