This master's thesis, titled “Healthy Body, Healthy Mind: A STEAM PBL Approach
to Nutrition in Primary Education”, aims to develop an innovative e-course for 9
10-year-old students, fostering nutritional awareness and enhancing social,
emotional, and creative skills. The study employs the interdisciplinary STEAM
methodology (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) combined
with Problem-Based Learning (PBL), enabling students to actively engage in
learning through problem-solving, experiments, case studies, and creative
activities.
The e-course is implemented in a digital environment (Wix), with each module
corresponding to a STEAM domain and offering integrated activities, worksheets,
digital tools, and learning assessment. The study focuses on linking nutrition
education with the development of students’ cognitive, social, and creative skills,
promoting intrinsic motivation and active participation in the learning process.
The research is based on theoretical foundations, problem analysis, international
literature, and case studies, while the methodology includes the design,
development, and evaluation of the e-course. Findings suggest that integrating
STEAM and PBL in primary education can be an effective tool for nutrition
education, enhancing knowledge, creativity, and student engagement in
experiential learning processes.
