We are living in an era in which technology is reshaping every aspect of our lives. From work to communication, transportation to entertainment, the digital landscape is changing the way things are done. However, there is one area where the use and application of technology is crucial: the vital sector of health and its technological modernization.
Although technology in healthcare means innovation, it faces many obstacles in reaching patients despite the many possibilities and tools available. The first and perhaps most significant obstacle is the structure of healthcare systems themselves. These systems are not just organizations, but rather complex networks of people, institutions, and processes. Any change impacts many links in the chain, so resistance is natural.
Introducing a digital system or a new application is never easy, and persuasion is key to implementation. However, it can have a very positive impact on the operation of a hospital, the organization of a clinic, or the service provided to a patient.
The human factor is a significant inhibiting factor. When new technology emerges to alter daily routines or modify work models, resistance is to be expected, and that is perfectly normal. Many healthcare workers may not see a new application as a boost or an aid, but rather as a threat or simply as additional work. This is especially true when there has been insufficient training beforehand, when their needs have not been considered, or when they have not been involved in finding and implementing the application.
The biggest challenge is building technologies for the people who need them, not just for those who can make them happen. The more healthcare professionals are involved in designing and implementing solutions, the more likely they are to accept and use them. Similarly, patients should be participants in a process that directly affects them, not mere recipients of healthcare.
Innovation in healthcare requires the participation of all stakeholders. In recent years, Greece has made impressive efforts to digitize healthcare. We need vision, political willpower, expertise, and flexibility. We must be willing to try new ideas, learn from our mistakes, and make gradual improvements (https://www.naftemporiki.gr/afieromata/the-n-society/1974017/o-psifiakos-metaschimatismos-stin-ygeia/).
This paper describes the ever-increasing use of digital technology in all areas of our daily lives and how it has improved our quality of life.
The growing use of digital transformation in various areas has improved their functioning and, in many cases, completely transformed them. In recent years, the use of digital transformation has increased. Based on its current use, it is evident that this technological advancement has significantly contributed to the healthcare sector.
The objective of this paper is to thoroughly describe the various applications of digital transformation and their connection to the healthcare sector. A case study on the use of digital transformation in healthcare is conducted alongside a presentation of recent healthcare initiatives. The conclusions highlight the importance of digital transformation and its various benefits.
