The aim of this Τhesis is to study energy efficiency and green technology,
focusing on new approaches to building development. Initially, the thesis briefly studies
the climate crisis, which is a major challenge for humanity, followed by a detailed
examination of energy efficiency and sustainability in the building sector, as well as
green technologies and practices applied in the building sector. Through the good
practices listed, the current trends in the subject under study are presented, both
globally, in Europe and in Greece.
In the second part of the paper, the case study is examined, where it is a
production and storage area in the pharmaceutical industry sector. In this context,
applications of bioclimatic design are proposed, as well as the application of passive
systems and the integration of Renewable Energy Sources. At the same time, the
benefits of the project are highlighted, which relate to the reduction of operating costs,
the improvement of environmental sustainability, as well as the increase of the
building's durability over time. Furthermore, it presents how the project can be
financed, as well as the future adaptation and expandability of the building, should this
be deemed necessary.
