| dc.description.abstractEN | The popular concept of the glass ceiling phenomenon remains an unbreakable barrier even today, visibly affecting women regardless of their education, achievements, and qualifications. Discrimination against women is evident and widespread at every step of their professional journey, from their entry into the corporate world, as well as in the search for newer and future opportunities. This research was conducted with the aim of studying the glass ceiling phenomenon in relation to women's efforts to balance their personal lives in order to achieve their professional goals in the Greek Industry. The research data was collected through a questionnaire, which was answered by 209 female employees in various private sectors. Participants were asked about their current employment situation, their working relationship and their professional development in relation with their personal life.
The results revealed a strong correlation between the glass ceiling and Work family conflict. The glass ceiling is more keenly felt by those trying to ascend in rigid or male-dominated fields and by individuals in mid-level or non-traditional relationship statuses. Those at the top or with more stable life structures may experience less perceived resistance. Higher levels of work–family conflict are associated with greater perceptions of the glass ceiling WFC intensifies with increasing job responsibility and family demands, reinforcing the dual burden carried by professionals navigating both leadership roles and personal lives. | el |
