In recent years, data science has become an essential tool across various fields of
research. We can now process and analyze data more rapidly, effectively, and correctly
thanks to 21st-century technical breakthroughs. The collection of data is an important
factor in the process of analysis and extraction of important information and
conclusions. From industry to sports, technology has created a large collection of data.
In sports and especially in tennis events these new and powerful statistical
methodologies have also been applied in order to identify how athletes and teams can
further improve. Also, with the constant stream of data for the players, the possibility
of improving a player's weak points and redefine strategies has never been this high.
On the other hand. social media have become a significant part of our lives and its
impact on athletes has emerged as a subject of interest. The continuously increasing
presence of social media in athletes’ lives has sparked a debate regarding its impact on
their performance. This thesis explores the relationship between social media usage and
its impact on the performance of professional tennis athletes. Using both qualitative and
quantitative research methods, as well as advanced statistical techniques, we aim to
identify such relationships.
