The International Maritime Organization (IMO), which is widely recognized as a highly impactful modification to fuel regulations, had a significant impact on the shipping industry and the global economy, ultimately leading to the transfer of costs to final consumers. The implementation of these standards became progressively complex during the Covid-19 epidemic, due to the imposition of restrictions on port visits and drydock operations for maritime vessels. There were operational challenges being observed in crew changes, inspections, and drydocking. The global epidemic has had both positive and negative impacts on the shipping industry and worldwide trade as a whole. This study further analyzes both the positive and negative impacts of the global crisis due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
