Job burnout effect on job satisfaction and job turnover : the case of hospital of Trikala city

Job burnout causes major negative consequences, as, among others, it decreases the level of job satisfaction and increases job turnover concerning both organization and occupation. In the context of current dissertation, job burnout, job satisfaction and job turnover of a sample of health professionals working in hospital of Trikala city were assessed as well as the effect of job burnout on job satisfaction and job turnover.
Using a sample of N=175 participants employees in hospital of Trikala city, it was found that a medium level of job burnout exists concerning the dimension of emotional exhaustion, a high level concerning depersonalization dimension and a low level concerning personal accomplishment dimension. It was also found a low level of job satisfaction from external factors and a high level from internal ones. It was found a high turnover level concerning the organization and a low level concerning the occupation. Finally, it was found that most of job burnout dimension negatively affect job satisfaction by decreasing it and job turnover by increasing it, according to the relevant theories and related empirical findings. Based on those results, specific managerial actions and measures are recommended in order to effectively handle this current situation.
