The purpose of this specific Thesis is the digital modelling of kapodistrian and prekapodistrian
buildings of Aegina, which are connected with the first governor of the newly formed Greek state,
Ioannis Kapodistrias. The project emphasizes in the methodology and the representational
techniques that were used in order to create a digital environment in which the buildings were
presented. Sketch Up and Unity3D, both were useful tools in the digital reconstruction and presentation of
historical buildings. With their help, a digital-educational application was created, were the user
visits the visual world and the buildings and learns important historical facts about them. The thesis focuses on the matter of the visual representation as a tool to promote cultural heritage and history. The ultimate purpose of the project is the promotion of a three-dimensional world and the creation of visual worlds as an alternative way of learning history.
