In the history of development economics, inflation is considered a key factor in many studies in developing and developed countries. Moreover, one of the most important goals for any economy is to maintain high output growth. The considerable uncertainty surrounding the effect of the rate of inflation on the rate of economic growth is one of the most researched topics in macroeconomics. The objective of this paper is to examine through the literature review the course of global inflation in recent years as well as the factors that influenced it. From the results, it emerged that the ongoing demographic changes have brought about a significant change in the size and age composition of the population, which have a significant impact on the global economy and inflation. Also, digitalization has a significant negative impact on inflation in the short term, as it is a key driver of lower trend inflation. Global factors such as global commodity prices, global slack and producer price competition can all significantly affect inflation, even after controlling for standard domestic variables.
