The desire of acquisition of children and the problems of infertility is something which has always troubled humanity and has been mentioned as much in religious descriptions as well as in literature and the arts. Infertility is a situation which could be due to genetic, pathological, anatomical or organic factors.
The field of in vitro fertilization has succeeded a rapid development from the aspect of medical science and is constantly developing and rapidly with new methods of assisted reproduction so as to cover the constant and increasing needs of the couples who face infertility problems. From the medical tourism point of you, it is a promising field with very good growth dynamics.
Medical tourism is a very important field of touristic industry in both a national and international level. Medical tourism is basically whichever form of journey from place of residence to other countries with the goal of acquirement of the patient’s health using the medical services which each destination offer. The criteria which defines the countries as a destination of medical tourism which range depending on the type of services which they offer with the costs, the legal framework and religion of each country.
This thesis is attempting to study and analyze the importance of reproductive tourism in Greece as well as the measures which must be taken for the development of cooperation between the units of deprived reproduction and the touristic field so that there is an increase in the inflow of the medical tourists in Greece and for Greece to be established as a popular destination of reproductive tourism.
For the analysis of reproductive tourism in Greece and the quality of its services which they offer has been taken into consideration, the institutional framework, the social economic parameters, as well as the reason for the pursuit of specific medical tourism, and more specifically in the field of deprived reproduction.
