The technological "explosion" that took place in recent years worldwide, as well as the outbreak of COVID-19, significantly defined humanity. Concepts such as working from home, telecommuting, digital nomads and remote work have developed quite a lot in the last 3 years and have become the new norm. Through this thesis I will try to analyze these above concepts that employees and companies try to assimilate and respond to and in the end adopt them. First, we will define the concepts of working from home, telework, digital nomads (this new term that has entered our lives in recent years and more and more workers prefer it.) We will also explain what remote work is and what technological advances have enabled work to be done flexibly without the need for the standard workplace. How work is finally renamed digital work. What are the "keys" that businesses should adopt in order to be productive in a constantly evolving digital age. How COVID-19 brought a new normality to how people think and work, leading them to redefine their needs in the post-COVID-19 era. Another important strand I will analyze is the environmental impact-footprint that this shift of people to working remotely has and in the long term how it will help decentralize from the world's major urban centers by pushing people back to nature. How the Metaverse, artificial intelligence (AI) and digital tools could in the future contribute to a completely digital reality about the work of tomorrow. What is zoomshock and The Great Resignation that pushes more and more young people to quit their conventional jobs and become Digital Nomads and turn their dream into a profitable business?
The digital workplace revolution is here and it will change everything we know about traditional work.
