Abstract
Digital prototypes are undoubtedly a very important tool for modern production units. The development of suitable prototypes for the simulation of various processes is done with the help of experienced and skilled designers, who are active in most stages of new product development. In the context of this paper, the capabilities of parametric digital prototypes are combined with analytical methods to develop a hybrid system of automatic product costing.
To develop the costing system, an algorithmic process is followed, which is structured based on the protocol of the small degree of user interface with the system. The system is tested for its effectiveness, for certain quick codes of a refrigeration manufacturing company. The results from the testing of the proposed system, showed that it is characterized by a high level of detail compared to the empirical costing methods used in the company. In particular, it was shown that the empirical methods lead to an overestimation of costs of more than 20%. The integration of the system in the company is expected to help create a competitive advantage through the reconfiguration of sales price levels and production plans in general.
