The interpersonal relationships between principals and teachers of primary school units :contribution to the effective functioning of the school unit

The main purpose of this paper is to investigate and analyze the opinions of teachers and principals of primary education schools in various regions of Greece regarding the interpersonal relationships that develop between teachers and their principal. In addition, the contribution of these interpersonal relationships to improving performance and strengthening the effectiveness of the school unit is studied. At the same time, the most important factors that influence and define these interpersonal relationships are explored. Finally, the role of the principal in creating a positive climate, resolving conflicts and developing positive interpersonal relationships within the school unit is explored. The research sample consisted of 104 kindergarten and primary school teachers in various regions of Greece, of which 39 are currently serving or have served in the past in the position of principal or head of a school unit. A questionnaire with closed-ended questions was used as a data collection tool.
