Artificial intelligence as an innovation strategy in the educational process
Artificial Intelligence is a growing field of technology capable of changing every aspect of our social interactions. In education, the rapid development of computer science has led to the development and evolution of Artificial Intelligence applications, which are instrumental in facilitating teaching, learning and decision-making. These are applications that provide both personalized learning, support and feedback to students, as well as course management and support. Essentially, they help students to learn more effectively, understanding concepts and their respective fields of application, with new and innovative technological methods. At the same time, they undertake a large part of the bureaucratic work of the teachers which enables them to devote more time to the educational process. This thesis initially examines what Artificial Intelligence is while making a historical review. It mentions the various programming techniques based on which Artificial Intelligence is implemented. It articulates the connection of Artificial Intelligence with education which begins in the 1950s. It analyzes applications of Artificial Intelligence in education that are developing and evolving today. It presents ethical concerns and risks posed by the use of Artificial Intelligence applications in education. It approaches future challenges and goals regarding the integration of Artificial Intelligence in education with reference to the implementation of the 4th goal of sustainable development which refers to ensuring free, equitable and quality education by promoting equal opportunities for lifelong learning. Finally, a research study is presented that analyzes the degree of acceptance of Artificial Intelligence applications in education by the Greek educational community, as it is a given that in the future the Greek education system will be supplemented by Artificial Intelligence systems.
