Purpose: The purpose of the research is to study the extent to which management can be influenced by emotional intelligence.
Sample: 100 primary education principals teachers working in the prefecture of Attica. The sample was random and each teacher had exactly the same chance of being included in the sample. With the random sample the representativeness of the sample is achieved and thus the data can be generalized to the population.
Research instrument: The research instrument was the questionnaire. Initially there were five questions about the demographic characteristics of the sample, namely gender, age, marital status, educational level and years of service. Then there was the emotional intelligence questionnaire of Salovey & Mayer (1990) and it consists of 17 questions. Then there were the 21 questions of Bass & Avolio's (2004) multiple leadership questionnaire.
Results: The results of the survey showed that the teachers had a moderate level of emotional intelligence. The style applied by their managers was mainly transformational, as its three dimensions scored the highest. There is a connection between the characteristics of transformational leadership and its outcome. This connection is statistically significant. The outcome of the work refers to the job satisfaction of the teachers, the effectiveness of their work and the effort they make every day.
Conclusions: The degree of emotional intelligence of primary school teachers is very important for them to produce a better quality work and at the same time to be able to solve any problems that arise. The transformational leadership applied by the principals of their schools was crucial to the development or not of emotional intelligence.
