The topic of this dissertation is "The overturning of the service providers' immunity according to Directive 2019/790 . In the first chapter of this dissertation, a brief historical review of the International "Intellectual Property Treaties" and corresponding European Directives and Regulations will be made. In the second chapter, we will proceed with an extensive analysis of Directive 2019/790, regarding the circumstances that led to its passing, the legal scope it has in today's digital environment, its objectives, the service providers covered by it, as well as issues that are at its core: specifically, related to the licensing of providers and above all, their responsibility. The third chapter is dedicated to the new challenges of the provisions of Directive 2019/790 and specifically, to the risks in terms of licensing problems that providers may face, the issue of the general monitoring obligation, automated content filtering and finally, the risk that potentially constitutes its application for the business freedom of the providers and the freedom of expression of the users of their services. The fourth chapter will be dedicated to the implementation of the Directive in the countries of the European Union and how it can be successfully implemented by the Member States and finally, the fifth chapter will contain my conclusions.
