The learning of a foreign language by Preschool children was a big challenge for the community of teachers who were requested to accept and respond to their new duties this year after the official introduction of English in public Kindergartens nationwide. At the same time, looking from the students' perspective, it provided the spark to gain experience and skills within a new field thus offering them the possibility to widen their intellectual horizons.
A systematic attempt was made in this Master's Thesis to research, comprehend and interpret the degree of influence that the application of the cultivation of mindfulness might have on executive skills and emotional intelligence when carried out through a technologically supported short-term program in the context of the introduction of the English language in the upgraded Kindergarten program.
The Thesis consists of two parts, the theoretical one and the practical application. The first part entails the research problem and the need to conduct the present study along with the relevant literature review regarding executive skills, emotional intelligence and the importance of their development through mindfulness techniques during English language learning. In addition, the second part presents the design, the implementation method and the results of the research carried out.
Finally, the conclusions of the research are summarized and utilized in order to outline improvements that request for further investigation.
