The present paper looks into the confidence and readiness of women teachers about becoming Headmasters in schools.100 Greek women teachers were the survey’s sample. The research was carried out with a written questionnaire, which is consisted by 12 questions. It is investigated whether women are willing to work as headmasters. It is also researched if there are barriers that make women to reject such a position.
As the research results show, women teachers in Greece believe that they are capable of being Headmasters and that men are not the only suitable for this job. However, women do realize that there are plenty barriers for becoming Headmasters in a school – the major problem, according to them, is family responsibilities.
