The role of education vouchers as a way of financing school units and their socio-economic impact

In recent decades, more and more countries have been giving parents of school-age children the opportunity to choose a school and are using education vouchers as an alternative way of financing school units, both public and private.
The purpose of this research is to examine the ideas of Greek citizens on what education vouchers are (as in Greece no equivalent program has been implemented so far at the level of primary or secondary education, but only in pre-school education), their views on the possible impact of the implementation of such a program and their attitudes as to the possibility of its implementation. To investigate this, a survey was carried out with a questionnaire given to 100 people, followed by a statistical analysis of their responses.
The survey showed that the majority of participants are familiar with the concept of education vouchers, consider it likely that the implementation of such a program will have a negative impact on education and are against its implementation.
