At a time marked by major economic, social and environmental problems, with adverse effects on quality of life, sustainability has been a matter of demand for three decades, with scientific, social and political proposals. Education, having the opportunity through Sustainability Education, to function as a field of application of the principles of sustainability and with the perspective of the transformation of the school into a sustainable one, can cause a similar transformation in society.
The present work, after theoretically approaching the concepts of Environment and environmental problems, Sustainable Development, Education for Sustainability, the whole school approach of Sustainable School and its applicability to Preschool Education, carried out the necessary literature review and material. views of preschool teachers.
The aim of the research was to explore their views on Sustainability and the Sustainable School. The research, which took place, involved 120 teachers / kindergarten teachers. The statistical analysis of the answers shows that most of teachers focus primarily on the environmental and social dimension of sustainability and secondarily on the dimension of economic development. Recognize the importance of Sustainability Education and the value of having features in the modern school, in terms of decision-making participation, collaboration, infrastructure and learning innovations, however the existence of Sustainable Kindergartens and information is minimal as it appears from the sample.
