The role of the school leader in motivating substitute teachers of primary education and their professional satisfaction

Abstract
The rapid development of modern societies and the increasing demands that follow, require the continuous optimization of the quality of education that is provided. Towards this direction, it is proven that the motivation of human resources and the satisfaction that results from the workplace, play a significant role. Motivation and job satisfaction are two concepts that have occupied the field industrial and organizational phycology for many decades. Although they have been a popular subject of research by the scholars, there is a need for further research that is related to the Greek educational system. The purpose of this study is to investigate the level of motivation of substitute primary school teachers by the principal of the school unit and whether they derive satisfaction from their workplace, given the difficulties that they face. The sample of this research consists of 104 teachers, as a method of research, a questionnaire which contained closed-ended questions was used.
