Issues of population reproduction, and in particular fertility, have been at the forefront of the debate for the last decades due to the continuing declining trend of fertility and matality indices affecting demographic phenomena and especially in the case of Greece. In addition, the phenomenon of migration plays an important role in the analysis of the phenomenon of fertility, especially in the case of Greece as it has been transformed from an exporting country to an immigration country. For this reason, the focus is on the demographic profile of aliens and their contribution to both the overall change in the population and its structures and to the basic demographic component of fertility.
The purpose of the present work, is to show how the level of parent’s education affects the fertility of the population using 2011vital statistics and census data in addition we present key definitions, concepts and measures in order to quantitatively investigate the phenomenon and measure fertility. Particular attention will be paid to the factors that determine the phenomenon of fertility in order to understand the role of fertility as well as the evolution and formation of the population by sex, age and nationality.
