In modern times the technological development is developing at a very fast pace; at this point, the present dissertation aims to examine, analyze and highlight the value of Digital Twins and their applications mainly at the industrial level. First, the concept of industry 4.0 is mentioned which includes a huge range of technologies and is based on the advanced connection technology that is available. Such connections make it possible to create many technologies that help in communication and data transfer. In relation to these technologies, the concept of the Internet of Things (IoT), which is part of Industry 4.0 and consequently of the Cyber-Physical Systems containing the Digital Twins, will be analyzed. Next, this dissertation will delve into Industrial IoT, with reference to its applications. Closing the first chapter, the Digital Twin entity and its benefits will be analyzed. In the second part we will see the applications of Digital Twins in four major areas. In the first sector, Industry, where most applications are found, Digital Twin's contribution to both the production process and the benefits it brings to businesses is analyzed. In the second area related to Health, the benefits of Digital Twins in terms of diagnosis and surgery will be analyzed. The third sector, which is part of the industry but due to its size is treated as a separate sector, is the Automotive Industry where here too the Digital Twins are a great tool for the production and support of products in this sector. Finally, Smart Cities are an area where Digital Twins applications will make the lives of residents even easier, safer and more intelligent, as will be discussed below.
