This Thesis examines the oil and shipping markets, focusing on the Black
Sea region as well as the Mediterranean region. In particular, oil and its products are
examined, and then the global market for oil and its products is discussed, as well as
the ships that undertake its transport. Next, the freight markets are examined, with
an emphasis on sales contracts and charter contracts, while some Black Sea ports
are presented, as well as some Mediterranean ports, which are considered to be
particularly important for the transportation of oil and its products.Last but not least,
as 2020 was marked by the unprecedented health crisis of COVID-19, reference is
being made to its effect and the evolution of the oil market as a result of social
distancing caused by the pandemic.
Regarding the methodology used in the present Thesis, it is a bibliographic
search in scientific journals, which study issues of oil and its marketing, as well as
in relevant books. In addition, relevant material is used from the internet, focusing
on websites that address shipping and oil trading issues.
