The purpose of this thesis is to describe the methods used in shipping to finance ships. The first chapters provide an insight into the industry and the types of ships that one may encounter. Maritime circles and 4 markets are also commented on as they are the most important elements affecting this industry. Apart from the above, there is an analysis of the methods that, a company can use to obtain funds, to make investments such as the purchase of new or used ships. Finally, there are examples of companies that have practiced these methods as well as an example of simple lending through a bank.
