Abstract

Quality assurance in an organization requires a set of actions by all those working for it in order to maintain and improve the quality of the services provided. In the health sector, health service providers have to ensure the quality of services on the basis of international standards so that the results they produce help to prevent and improve the health of citizens. This work attempts to approach the operation of medical laboratories and the implementation of quality standards while studying the quality system applied to the Iaso Clinic laboratories. The first chapter, which is the introduction of the study, mentions the reasons that led to the development of standards for quality assurance as well as the definition of quality in health. In the second chapter there is a historical review of the pioneers in quality health management and their contribution. The third chapter analyzes errors that it may happen in medical laboratories. More specifically, the concept of an error is defined, how this results, what consequences it may have, but also ways to prevent and deal with it. The fourth chapter describes the organization and operation of medical laboratories. In addition, for each function of the laboratory, methods and procedures to be applied to ensure quality. Finally, the fifth chapter analyzes the quality indicators used by the Iaso Clinic laboratories to monitor, continuously improve quality and correct any deviations.
