Τεχνοοικονομική μελέτη μονάδας βιοαερίου στην περιοχή της Μεσσηνίας

The main objective of this study, that conducted under the guidance of Professor Mr Hatzinikolaou, is to present the economic exploitation of the basic waste of milk processing, which is whey. Our aim was to introduce new ideas for the techno-economic exploitation of whey, with economic and environmental benefits. It is presented the development of the whey exploitation applications as it is today, using international scientific articles as a bibliographical reference, as well as an empirical study of a specific region in Greece, which has small production units of Greek cheese. Besides the final conclusions, an improved techno-economic model for the use of whey is presented, which is based on the viability of the investment with economic benefit and the importance of biogas as a renewable energy source for the environment and sustainable development in general. This is a template of Bioeconomy model and we can clearly see the harmonization of economic benefit-human needs and the preservation or improvement of the natural environment.
