It is estimated that 10% to 15% of students in primary education across Greece, have special reading disorder or dyslexia, of which 4 out of 5 are boys. Research has highlighted the association of dyslexia with phonological and phonic awareness.
The director of the First Psychiatric Clinic, Professor Papageorgiou Charalambos and his team, designed and developed a research process in order to tackle dyslexia. This research is based on the development of phonological and phonemic information to improve or eliminate dyslexic elements across students.
The implementation and support of this research, has been undertaken by this diploma thesis, through the development of custom research web application, Train @ Dyslexia. The software, is specifically designed to meet all the requirements of the research protocol, while the use of gamification elements in its design, helps to increase the consistency of students, performing the designated sessions.
