The aim of the present study is the quest and analysis of the broad term of entrepreneurship by presenting its main definitions and forms, as well as the determining factors that influence it. At the same time, entrepreneurship in Greece is presented through the usage of indicators. However, in the center of this study lies the contemporary business and its activity in the constantly changing external environment, through presenting this form of enterprise, which is the most common one in Greece and in the European Union and plays an important role both on the country’s economy and on the European Union’s economy, namely the small or medium-sized enterprise, while a contemporary form of enterprise, start-up, is also described. Furthermore, this paper introduces the strategic goals raised by businesses by examining the following terms: innovation, creativity, information technology environment and knowledge era.
