The subject of this thesis, is the Mediterranean Sea over which we will look at the impact of internal and external factors. The Mediterranean Sea is a hub of international transport and, at the same time, it is also a source of social prosperity for the countries bordering it. Initially, an extensive reference is made to its geographical characteristics, political, economic and social changes in the surrounding countries, its phenomena as a unique marine environment, and the causes of pollution of this sensitive ecosystem and disrupt the balances of both coastal systems and those in deeper waters. Gravity will be given to the human factor, shipping, the various regulations that have been adopted and fishing. Finally, we will refer to the conclusions that have been drawn from this paper on the ways in which the Mediterranean is being monitored, maintained and researched, and how effective it will be, and therefore solutions will be proposed on how to improve these ways to better protect it Mediterranean Sea.
