The subject of the present thesis is the greek maritime cluster and the analysis
of the shipping agencies department. At the beginning, an introduction will be made
and the theory of the operations’ cluster, the factors of its creation, its stages of
development, its financial dimension and its significance will be analysed. Next, the
activities of the maritime cluster will be analysed, its operations and its market, its
extent and its impact on the economy in general will be presented. This expatiation is
essential in order to investigate the branches of the European Maritime Cluster, its
financial dimensions and its contribution to the European economy. Hereupon, the
Greek Maritime Cluster will be presented, analysing branches that it is contituted by,
the financial effect of the maritime on the greek economy and reinforcement policies
of the maritme cluster and suggestions for enhancement of its competition will be
proposed. Conclusively, the meaning of the shipping agent, the importance of the
agency department for the greek maritime cluster will be analysed, the issues that it
confronts and subsequently solutions and prospects for further development will be
proposed.
