This thesis aims at presenting and comparing the bank lending with the alternative sources of financing (leasing, factoring, forfeiting), in an unfavorable and constantly changing economic and banking environment. Using a questionnaire, the main objective, is to draw conclusions about the most advantageous form of funding, based on their peculiarities. In particular, in the first chapter will be made a description of the financial and banking system. We will refer to the Greek banking system and how it has changed during the economic crisis (2007-2017), we will describe the Systemic Greek Banks and we will analyze the Non Performing Loans and how they affected the banking sector. In the second section we will talk about business financing and we will analyze its two main categories, internal and external financing as well as all their categories. We will study bank lending as a traditional external financing, and how lending through working capital and long-term borrowing will allow businesses to grow. We will also look at the financing problems faced by the enterprises and how Non performing Loans and Openings have affected business financing. The next section refers to the first alternative form of finance, leasing. We will give the definition of leasing, the legislative framework in which it was established in the Greek market, and a more detailed description of its operation and categories, as well as the advantages and disadvantages. The fourth section refers to factoring. We will speak about the legislative framework, the categories that distinguish it and how they used, and we will see the reasons why it is distinguished. Correspondingly in the fifth section we will study forfaiting, his definition, structure, its advantages and disadvantages and an interesting comparison with factoring. The last chapters refer to research and methodology used for sample collection and representativeness. At the same time, through the correlations, which made using the SPSS, will be quoted the results and the conclusions that drawn. Finally, we will mention some suggestions on improving the financing of businesses in the midst of the crisis.
