The aim of this thesis was the development of an information system which gives the user the ability to monitor the climatic data of his cultivation, it will notify him about important developments and it will automate some operations, such as irrigation. That system consists of a native Android application with which the user interacts. At the same time it includes the development of a "smart system" monitoring climate crop data, which runs in the background (server) and has the purpose of making decisions according to the data that receives from the automatic weather stations, which are located close to the crop, combined with some thresholds that are set by the user. This system could be decomposed in three parts. The first one would be the database, in which climate data are stored after they’ve been collected from the data nodes (for convenience, already existing datasets have been used). Second part includes the development of a system which runs in the background (server) and does the following : 1st It responds to client’s calls (Android Application) through web services. 2nd It will notify the client in case of an important event. 3rd It will decide (based on algorithms) about actions to be taken (In this case I tried to automate the irrigation system). On the third part, a native Android application was developed. Such a system is trying to help the users (farmers), to monitor the climate of the cultivation, to automate some functions, and trace diseases that threaten the cultivation as well. Adoption of smart agriculture practices may help improve the quality of the produced fruits, decrease the farming costs, save the natural resources (water), and diminish the harm on nature and the aquatic resources.
