This thesis, developed under the postgraduate program of the Department of Digital Systems, examine widely both known Methodologies of Project Management for projects listed in Telecommunications, Information Technology and Applications. More specifically, this thesis describes the characteristics of Project Management Institute (PMI), one of the most renowned institutions in the project management area, because of the methodology which has developed, according to the PMBOK guide. Then, it indicates the methodology PRINCE2 (Projects in Controlled Environments version 2), a de facto standard for project management in many UK government departments and across the United Nations system. There is a comparison between the two methodologies as far as similarities and differences are concerned; they deal with the described knowledge areas as well as with the best practices that are used. Finally, the case study presented on this project which refers to the Provision New Telephony Services IP VPN VOICE, in a Greek Banking Agency. The management of that work was performed according to the methodological framework of the PMI. The stages, the phases and the procedures performed, are analyzed by the Integrator of the project. Moreover, the conclusions are imprinted, as they have been identified by the Project Manager.
