The majority of e-Learning systems utilize the learning process in such manner, in which the student is always presented with the same material, thus lacking the feature of adaptivity. Adaptivity can be achieved using modelling systems such as a user model and more specific the student model. The existence of the characteristic of personalized learning, is more than necessary in an educational platform, due to the fact that not all students have the same level of knowledge. Therefore it is challenge to design and develop an education software that is adaptive. The main goal of adaptive education software systems, is to provide students with the most suitable for them content, the moment they make a request for it. This means that such piece of educational software, should include a mechanism able to determine the student’s knowledge level, maintain logs regarding that knowledge level, monitor the usage of the platform and of course adjust the content presentable to the student in a unique and personalized way. This study proposes an adaptive, multi role, educational software for learning English that includes support for personalized learning, based on up to date web technologies. The software we propose aims at kids who belong to the age group between 8-16 years old and incorporates support for the user roles of visitor, student, professor and administrator. The most important aspect of our software is the ability to assess the student’s level and rank, immediately after his registration and adapt the full educational content according to his/her rank. In the following chapters we will present at introduction level some basic theories and concepts regarding educational software, how are these theories being applied to our system. We will also analyze the mechanism and main functions of our software for every user role separately as well as the technologies used to develop it. In the closing section we try to evaluate the user interface of our software and propose future improvements.
