Αξιοποίηση του περιβάλλοντος App Inventor για την ανάπτυξη εφαρμογών για κινητά Android
The present diploma thesis investigates matters relevant to the educational framework of teaching programming in high-school education and identifies difficulties students face. Moreover, it analyses the capabilities of programming environment AppInventor as a tool to teach that subject. App Inventor is a visual programming environment to develop applications for mobile devices running the Android operating system. There follows a thorough analysis of the working environment and the corresponding functions and it is studied how it can contribute to the teaching of programming. In the course of investigating the possibility of educational exploitation of App Inventor, and further to the analysis of the relevant literature, a seminar was organized and executed with the participation of 22 high-school Informatics teachers. The structure of the seminar is described and there is an analysis of the data that came up from the responses to a detailed questionnaire that was given to the participants. Furthermore, there is an evaluation of the final assignments given to seminar participants, as an element of checking of the level of assimilation of the material. The thesis concludes with the answer to the key research question of whether App Inventor could be indeed used in the context of the Greek high-school education system, according among others and to the seminar findings.
