Our aim is to demonstrate the variations in the terms of a charter party that occurs during the fluctuations of the shipping market. In order to do that it will firstly demonstrate the shipping market model (supply & demand) and then will try to explain the charter party, then it will focus on the two main forms of charter parties in the dry bulk shipping industry that is, the GENGON, that concerns the voyage charter parties and the NYPE, that concerns the time charter parties. Also it will elaborate on the terms & conditions that modify, (from owners favor to charters favor etc.) depending on the market situation at the given moment. Last but not least, there is an assessment of executed charter parties, in order to identify those terms that swift due to the adjustments of the market (good market – bad market).
