Smoking and life expectancy in Greece
Nowadays, smoking is considered a chronic and recurrent epidemic. A large number of people in the world have died because of smoking. Smoking poses risks for many forms of cancer, cardiovascular disease, ischemic stroke, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, atherosclerosis, diabetes mellitus, infertility, gestational abnormalities, and much more. It is also worth noting that more people have died of smoking-related diseases than in both world wars. Therefore, smoking is directly related to life expectancy, and all countries in the world must take appropriate measures to reduce, if not eliminate, the epidemic of smoking.
