This paper discusses the progress of health tourism in Greece, a form of tourism
particularly known in the country. There is particular emphasis on alternative forms of
tourism that can be developed in Greece. The history of health tourism in our country is
starting from antiquity and has been grown constantly, since.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the development of this form of tourism but also
those subject to it. Specifically, it analyzes the potential development of spa tourism in the
country and wellness tourism, areas that can help the country recover from the difficult
point ,in which Greece is today. There are used statistics and data to show the real numbers
of the sector’s economy and which their prospects are. It also analyzes the conditions and
framework that must be created to allow the development of these sectors in the future.
