This thesis aims to highlight the importance of motivation and present the main motivational theories, techniques and strategies. Moreover, the study investigates incentives at work that enterprises use in order to encourage their staff to greater performance. The above are better understood by the example of Power Health. The biggest challenge for a contemporary enterprise, that determines its prosperity and profitability, is to take full advantage of human resources skills, achieving business goals and satisfying employees’ personal needs. The most important to this procedure is to motivate employees, using techniques and methods that boost their interest at work, keep them focus on their duties and active for the future. First chapter puts emphasis on human resources, as the main competitive advantage for business success. Human Resource Management (HRM) contributes to the appropriate and sufficient administration of this factor, but clear and specific Strategy Human Resource Management according to the corporate culture and vision should have been formed first. The following section refers to the concept of motivation, the motivational forces and the main motivational theories (Maslow, Herzberg, McClelland, Adams, etc). Motivational theories are divided into concept theories and process theories. Third chapter presents the definition of incentives, why managers choose to motivate employees, how they provide incentives and what difficulties face in this process. In addition, work incentives are classified into different types (eg ethical, psychological, material), also group incentives are distinguished from individual ones.
Fourth chapter describes how efficient motivation and employees empowerment can achieved through Emotional Intelligence and Neuro-Linguistic Programming tools. Managers can achieve corporate goals inspiring, affecting and guiding employees’ behavior. Finally, last chapter introduces Power Health case study, a company of natural health products, summarizing those analyzed in previous sections. It is about a qualitative research that focuses on motivation methods and types of incentives provided to its personnel, while conclusions and suggestions for improvement are listed at the end.
