In this paper we deal with FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) analysis and the ways its functions can be developed. The theory of FDI is presented in the first chapter of the paper. The company is outlined in the second chapter. In the beginning of the second chapter the parent company, Cosco Pacific Limited is presented. In this chapter we can see the strategic policies of the parent company and the corporate course of its subsidiary in Greece. The third chapter provides secondary statistical analysis of PCT S.A. accounting and financial assets and accounting ratio analysis. And finally, the fourth chapter covers the S.W.O.T. analysis of Cosco Pacific Limited’s investment in Greece.
An important aspect of this paper is the methodology used for extracting theoretical and practical results of accounting assets. The accounting and financial assets were found on the website of PCT S.A. and based on both Greek and international literature. The results of the ratio analysis indicates that the investment pursues the FDI strategy globally, but the company presents negative values in sales in 2009 and 2010 and subsequently the company shows liquidity problems. Finally, the S.W.O.T. analysis results indicate that the investment has future prospects, but is high risk. However, the results clearly show that the investment of Cosco in Greece did not produce the expected results for the parent company and for this reason Cosco is cautious about investment and development.
