The last decades, the epidemic of AIDS constitutes the epicentre scientific and inquiring interesting so much in international scale what in national level. This phenomenon concerns the clinical medicine, the epidemiology, the social & economical sciences for the better distribution of resources of health. This dissertation aims to present the social dimensions of AIDS and describes the way that the citizens perceive the illness and its repercussions. The approach of subject of the present thesis is based on primary and secondary elements. Primary elements resulted from research of field via the use of structured questionnaire, which was distributed in sample of 120 individuals, from which the 100 accepted to answer. Afterwards, we present the results of research, that is to say the more general picture that the Greeks have for the illness of AIDS, their degree of briefing, the taboos, their fears and their sensitivity on issues of medical care and economic benefits. Respectively, the secondary elements of research they were based on the review of the relative Greek and international bibliography and spelling as well as internet sources. Concretely is presented AIDS conceptually, the development of syndrome and his spread until today. Becomes effort of imprinting of existing situation in Greece, is recorded the number of boundary individuals with HIV, the patients of AIDS, per sex, age and category of transmission. Also, are distinguished the ways of transmission, become report in the anti-retro treatment that is very important for the survival of patients with HIV. Is presented the action of involved institutions for the confrontation of illness. Also, touch on the serious matter of social exclusion - racism and the factors of increasing cost. Finally, measures are proposed as far as the prevention and the reduction of cost of illness concerned.
