In the context of globalization and rapid change in social, economic and cultural environment states and international organizations increasingly seek to ensure health care systems, competitive, efficient and responsive to the needs and expectations of patients. Although the need for health care from a medical point of view is universally the same, perception of the quality level, differs among people of different social , economical and cultural studies. However, nowadays, thanks to the rapid spread of information, patients become aware, compare and demand in proved health levels. In the developed world, a common culture has been created , concerning the definition of health services. International standards which can be used universally have been created. This paper presents the concepts of quality management and how international standards can help create a competitive, efficient and economical health care system, which improves the safety of patient care and promote health.
