The present diplomatic work analyses the structure and the supported services of modern Regional Health Integrated Information Systems (RIIHS), which are under development in Greece. Every Sanitary Region of Greece includes its own RIIHS. The RIIHS includes a Regional Data Centre (RDC) via which all medical units are interconnected and spread out health and providence services all over the Sanitary Region. The RDC assists also in the establishment and operation of centralized applications in level of Sanitary Region, as well as special services to the citizens. This work analyzes to a high degree the RIIHS services and applications and it describes who they are incorporated into the existed medical and administrative services of all types of medical units of Sanitary Region. In parallel, it considers the capabilities of RIIHS to control and manage all types of handled data, as well as to cover all required levels of reliability. Moreover, it presents all advantages gained by the Hellenic Health System due to these new RIIHSs. It mentions all critical functional factors of RIIHS that affect the overall operation of the Sanitary Region. Finally, it analyses all potential problems, weaknesses and risks that could be appeared in any technical, administrative and administrative level of the Sanitary Region due to these new RIIHSs.
