Sea Transportation is a very perplexing market that depends on and interacts with many variables, while it is mostly self-regulating. Depending on the way the variables of supply and demand interact, as well as the international financial trends, the market decides on the average age of the vessels that trade within it. Regardless of any circumstances, a significantly large share is being occupied by Old Tonnage vessels. In the midst of the global financial crisis the percentage of these vessels in the Dry Bulk sector reaches 25%. Meanwhile, the snipping regulatory and commercial demands are increasing rapidly which makes the management of vessels harder, especially the "old" ones. Through a theoretical analysis, the peculiarities and difficulties of managing Old Tonnage will be identified and recorded, while via the use of case studies, the way to achieve best results is demonstrated, while each new challenge and demand is dealt with effectively.
