This diploma thesis aims to study the ferry connections of Tinos Island with mainland Greece and the capital of the Prefecture of Cyclades, Syros. More specifically, object of this study are the lines of Tinos- Rafina, Tinos - Piraeus and Tinos-Syros. There have been four cases for analysis. Users of passenger vehicle ferries from Tinos to Rafina and users of passenger catamaran ferries in the same route, users of vehicle passenger ferry for Tinos-Piraeus line and users of passenger vehicle ferries from Tinos to Syros. The research was conducted with questionnaires and interviews to the members of the specific routes. Also interviews and questionnaires were conducted to travel agents on the island. Furthermore, recently searched items by port and local authorities. Beyond all above, references for the shipping and the characteristics of maritime transport were made, for the coastal navigation and features of demand, supply and of course the institutional framework in which it operates. Also, it is presented how the Greek situation has been formed and the existing ferry network.
